First I'd like to thank everyone who raced, coached and came to watch
the Regatta. Conditions were pretty terrible for large parts of the
day with the wind and the rain. The brief sunshine at 6pm was
well worth the wait!

As I'm sure you can imagine, trying to complete a 134 race regatta in
conditions like those experienced is not easy. We had some major
challenges during the day which, when compounded, unfortunately left
us running 64 minutes late. In order to ensure that the regatta could
reach a safe conclusion in daylight, a decision was made by the race
commitee to cut races in order to claw back time. In this situation we
have 2 options. We can either remove events, or we can award wins
based on the heat times. It was agreed that the fairest option was to
remove some finals from the programme and race the heats to award winners
based on time; this gave all crews the opportunity to race.

I hope you enjoyed the day, in spite of the conditions, and we look
forward to seeing you again at our head races in the autumn and back
at Dorney in 2011.
